Chemical reactions don't always happen at the same rate they are influence by concentration, temperature, and pressure. Reactions, like explosives are very fast reaction unlike the rusting of iron which may take many years before it starts reacting.
Rate of reaction are measure in two ways: the disappearances of reactant or the appearances of a product referring to exothermic and endothermic.
