What is Le Chatelier's Principle? |
Le Chatelier's Principle is when stress is applied to a system in dynamic equilibrium(rate of forward reaction is equal to rate of reverse reaction), the system changes to relieve the stress.
Factors of Le Chatelier's Principle: -Concentration Increasing concentration of reactants moves equilibrium to the product side(to the right). Increasing concentration of the products will move equilibrium to the left towards the reactants. -Temperature Increasing the temperature will move the equilibrium to the left. Decreasing the temperature will move the equilibrium to the right. -Pressure(only affects gases) Increasing the pressure will move the equilibrium to the side with the fewer moles of gas. Increase in pressure will move the equilibrium to the right. Decrease in pressure will move the equilibrium to the left. |
